Tied and Torn

Frayed. Distressed. Cutout. Lace-up. Ripped. You name it, you see it in trendy clothing stores. Years ago, we hardly associated these words with fashion simply because they sounded too bizarre. It freaks out old people including my grandmother who anxiously confronted me once, “Nganung gisi man na imong karsones? (Why are your pants torn?)” In her defense though, it looked like I was dragged along the highway and attacked by wild animals. But to me, “It’s fashion.”  And I live to see what’s yet to come.
